Contemporary French melodrama in the tradition of the classic Hollywood quality woman's film. The film follows the lives of two Jewish women, Mina (Romane Bohringer) and Ethel (Elsa Zylberstein), both born in 1958, who have been best friends since childhood. In the 1970s Mina studies art and eventually becomes a successful painter for a short time. Ethel on the other hand struggles to become a journalist. The film traces developments in their work and love lives while also examining their Jewish heritage.
