Mirror Film Poster

Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky's musings about life based on his own boyhood memories of life in World War Two. The film, like many of his offerings, fell foul of the Soviet authorities. Tarkovsky, who died in 1986, is best known for his award-winning science-fiction opus Solaris, and Andrei Rublev ,which was banned for five years in his native country. But Mirror stands alongside them in terms of quality with its very moving memorial to lost innocence; a rich mixture of flashback and flash-forward, newsreel and dream sequences.
