Malgorzata Szumowska co-writes and directs this Polish comedy drama. Jacek (Mateusz Kosciukiewicz) is a young builder who loves metal music and lives in a rural Polish village with his girlfriend Dagamara (Malgorzata Gorol). While working on a giant statue of Jesus, Jacek suffers a horrific fall and sustains injuries so severe that he has to undergo a face transplant. Now unrecognisable, Jacek is ostracised by his community and left only with the support of his sister (Agnieszka Podsiadlik), as he struggles to pay his medical bills and searches for his new place in the world.
