Film-maker Chantal Akerman directs this documentary in which she records conversations with her mother Natalia, who died shortly after filming ended. Using handheld cameras, Skype and her Blackberry mobile phone, Chantal documents her intimate interactions with her mother, a Polish immigrant and Auschwitz survivor, over the course of several months. Throughout the film, Chantal re-examines her roots from her home in New York and observes her mother's domesticated home life as together they ruminate on important and painful topics to them both including ageing, war, anti-Semitism and politics.
