However, things soon take a shocking turn when Marcella is exposed as an Italian spy and suddenly disappears before blueprints for an Austrian fortress mysteriously appear in Michael's desk. Having aroused suspicion despite his true innocence, Michael is encouraged to take his own life by the secret service, but flees the country and heads for Italy where he commences his search for the person who framed him as a traitor.
