During a night of debauchery, hellraising young troublemaker Ray (Scott Leet) accidentally kills a prostitute, and is jailed for his crimes. After seven years he emerges from prison a changed man, ready to repent for his sins. However, crooked cop Jack Bracken (Mickey Rourke) is determined to put him straight back in jail. Despite the cop's persistent interference Ray manages to get a job, but trouble resurfaces when he starts an affair with his employer's wife and uncovers a web of corruption.
