Colm McCarthy writes and directs this Irish/Scottish fantasy horror. Irish traveller Mary (Kate Dickie) and her shy teenage son Fergal (Niall Bruton) are on the run and end up hiding out on an Edinburgh housing estate. Mary's supernatural capabilities have drawn the attention of the mysterious, tattooed Cathal (James Nesbitt), who is intent on hunting her down using his powers of black magic. When Fergal falls for the feisty Petronella (Hanna Stanbridge), Mary does all she can to suppress the budding relationship, sensing that the final showdown with Cathal is drawing near.
