Cult comedy from the late 1970s telling the story of the friendship between Robin (Craig Russell), a disillusioned gay hairdresser, and his schizophrenic flatmate, Liza (Hollis McLaren). After Liza persuades Robin to attend a drag ball dressed as Tallulah Bankhead, he becomes liberated from his dull life and takes a job as a female impersonator at a local nightclub. His uncannily accurate impressions of divas such as Mae West, Bette Davis, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand prove an instant hit, and he eventually decides to move to New York to pursue his burgeoning career. Meanwhile, Liza's life spirals further into despair as she falls pregnant and is advised by doctors not to keep the baby.
