An Indian boy from the wrong side of the tracks climbs the ladder to become a master thief. Loosely based on a true story, Lucky (Abhay Deol), a 15-year-old boy from a dysfunctional family, uses his wits and guile to escape his impoverished surroundings in the ghettos of West Delhi. Along with his friend Bangali (Manu Rishi) he quickly graduates to becoming a fully-fledged thief and apprentice to mentor Gogi Bhai (Paresh Rawal), the local fence. As his exploits and hunger bring him increasing success, Lucky's taste for the good things in life cause him to seek the respectability and social standing he so desperately craves.
