Sci-fi triple bill. 'Rollerball' is the 2002 remake of the 1975 future sports classic. When hockey player and skateboarder Jonathan Cross (Chris Klein) is recruited to play the emergent cable TV sport of Rollerball, he quickly becomes the game's biggest star. But after a fellow player is injured, Jonathan discovers some disturbing evidence which suggests the game is being manipulated by outside forces in order to make it increasingly violent and dangerous. Realising that his boss Petrovich (Jean Réno) is the man behind these changes, Jonathan starts making plans to get out of the game - but with so much money involved, it's unlikely his masters will let him off the hook easily. 'Fortress' is a sci-fi prison escape movie starring Christopher Lambert as an ex-army expert who has been imprisoned for thirty years when his wife becomes illegally pregnant for the second time. Once inside he seeks to escape, but an exploding device has been implanted in his stomach and the Governor is watching his dreams on video. 'Future Sport' is set in 2025. The future of America is threatened by the activities of the Hawaiian Liberation Organisation, who are demanding independence for their island. To avoid full-scale military conflict, the dispute is to be settled by a game of Futuresport, a violent cross between skateboarding and basketball in which holding onto the ball for too long results in a massive electric shock. The mainland is represented by top athlete Tre Ramsey (Dean Cain), whilst the unscrupulous Hawaiian team receive coaching from the game's inventor, Obike Fixx (Wesley Snipes).
