A sparkling new production of Mozart's much-loved romantic opera, featuring a cast of fresh young talent. Wily, cynical Don Alfonso (Johannes Martin Kranzle) wagers that he can prove all women will be unfaithful if put to the test. Idealistic young soldiers Ferrando (Daniel Behle) and Guglielmo (Alessio Arduini) accept the bet. Pretending they've been sent to war, they disguise themselves. Each then sets out to seduce the other's fiancee - Dorabella (Angela Brower) and Fiordiligi (Corinne Winters) respectively. Mozart's deliciously quirky comedy of love and fidelity boasts some of his most beautiful and evocative music. For the Royal Opera's new production of this timeless classic, director Jan Philipp Gloger imaginatively recasts Don Alfonso as a theatre director. Now the devious puppet master can use all the sets, props and tricks of his trade to create new scenes in which to challenge his lovers' affections. Semyon Bychkov conducts a cast of up-and-coming talent, including American soprano Corinne Winters.
