Karen Silkwood was a worker at a nuclear materials plant who became convinced that the management was covering up its lack of safety measures. She gathered enough material to support her case and was ready to publicise the problem, but on her way to a meeting with the 'New York Times', she was killed in a suspicious car crash. This film tells the full story, with Meryl Streep as Karen, Kurt Russell as her live-in boyfriend, and Cher playing their lesbian flat-mate.
