Musical drama starring Yvonne De Carlo and Jean-Pierre Aumont. In 1865, young sailor and composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (Aumont) is in the middle of his two-year tour with the Russian Navy. When the ship docks in Tangiers, Morocco, Nikolai goes into the town in search of a piano on which to play his latest work. There he meets a beautiful young woman called Cara (De Carlo) who is not all that she seems. To earn some extra money, Cara secretly works as a veiled dancer by the name of Scheherazade. As Nikolai hears Cara's story, he is inspired by his new muse and begins to write more music. The cast also includes Brian Donlevy as Captain Vladimir Gregorovitch and Phillip Reed as shipmate Prince Mischetsky.
