Documentary focusing on Afghan refugee Sonita Alizadeh, who dreams of one day becoming a successful rapper. The film follows Sonita, who lives apart from her family in Iran, as she tries to secure a visa that would allow her to pursue an education in America. However, her family are keen to marry her off to procure enough money for their own son's marriage as soon as possible, forcing Sonita to rebel and keep them in the dark about her true intentions.
