Roland Emmerich directs this drama starring Jeremy Irvine and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Growing up in Indiana, Danny Winters (Irvine) was always afraid to be himself. After being caught having sex with his boyfriend and subsequently disowned by his father, Danny moves to New York where he hopes he can finally be open about his life choices and his sexuality. When he reaches Greenwich Village he befriends a group of drag queens who lead him to the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar run by Mafia boss Ed Murphy (Ron Perlman). As Danny gets more involved in the underground gay culture of New York City, regularly clashing with the police, he realises that something must be done about the treatment of homosexuals and joins others in the struggle for gay liberation. The cast also includes Jonny Beauchamp, Joey King and Caleb Landry Jones.
