A double bill of children's animation. 'The Bear' is adapted by the makers of 'The Snowman' from the book by Raymond Briggs. A little girl accidentally drops her teddy bear into the polar bear's pit at the zoo. That night she cries herself to sleep, only to be woken up by a polar bear who has come to return her teddy. The bear and the girl then begin a friendship which poses one big problem - how can she keep such a big bear in her house without her parents finding out? Soon however the spirit of the Great Bear calls them both on a magical adventure. In 'The Last Polar Bears' an eccentric grandfather and his dog Roo set off on a journey to the North Pole in search of the last polar bears. Setting sail on the good ship Unsinkable with a golf bag packed full of equipment, the grandfather begins to write a series of letters to his grandchild, and it is in the form of these letters that the story is told.
