Australian horse racing drama based on the jockey Damien Oliver and the tragedy that befell him during the run up to the Melbourne Cup of 2002. After their father's death in 1975 from a horse racing accident, both Damien (Stephen Curry) and his older brother Jason (Daniel MacPherson) have followed in his footsteps and become regarded jockeys themselves. As both train for the prestigious Melbourne Cup of 2002, tragedy hits when Jason's horse falls in a race and he is hospitalised until his death two weeks before the event. Damien must then face the dilemma of either pulling out of the race or taking part, but with the help of horse trainer Dermot Weld (Brendan Gleeson) he begins to realise that racing would be the most fitting tribute to his brother and father.
