Japanese drama directed by Naomi Kawase and starring Machiko Ono. Machiko (Ono) is a young caregiver who works at a senior citizen's home in the Nara countryside. One of the home's residents whom Machiko is responsible for has grown increasingly senile and their relationship is a difficult one. Their interactions become more enjoyable and affectionate however as the man associates Machiko with his wife Mako, who died almost 33 years ago, and they relate over this and Machiko's loss of her young son. When the two go on a car journey into the countryside they end up in a relatively harmless accident, but when Machiko tries to look for help nearby her ward leaves the car and ventures into the woods. With little choice but to follow, Machiko cares for the man as he seeks out his late wife's grave to pay his respects.
