In 1930's South Africa, P.K. (Guy Witcher), an orphan of English parentage, is tormented at his Afrikaaner boarding school. When World War II breaks out he goes to live with a German friend of his grandfather (Armin Muller-Stahl), a musician who is jailed for not registering as an alien. An account of the divisions in South African society which led to the creation of Apartheid.
