Synopsis

Collection of classic romantic dramas. In the silent short 'A Society Sensation' (1918) wealthy playboy Dick Bradley (Rudolph Valentino) falls in love with fisherman's daughter Sydney Parmelee (Carmel Myers). 'The Hills of Donegal' (1947) follows the relationship between Irish singer Eileen (Dinah Sheridan) and her husband Terry (John Bentley) as their marriage begins to fall apart after they move to Donegal. In 'Those People Next Door' (1953), during the Second World War, the working-class Twigg family come into conflict with an upper-class family after their daughter falls in love with a RAF pilot. 'Peg of Old Drury' (1935) follows the life of actress Peg Woffington (Anna Neagle) from her humble Dublin roots to finding success and fame in London. In 'A Tale of Five Cities' (1951) English soldier Bob Mitchell (Bonar Colleano) loses his memory after an accident and travels through Europe searching for clues to his identity and past. In 'Love in High Gear' (1932) a jewel thief steals a pearl necklace at a wedding and uses an eloping couple as his cover to escape with his prize. In 'A Woman Alone' (1936) an officer falls for his maid. 'The Wedding of Lilli Marlene' (1953) Lilli Marlene (Lisa Daniely) receives her big break in London just as she is about to marry American reporter Steve Moray (Hugh McDermott), leaving her with a tough decision to make about her future. In 'Marilyn' (1953) the wife of a garage owner becomes romantically involved with his new mechanic. Finally, in 'A Yank in Ermine' (1955) an American soldier inherits the lordship of an English village and falls in love with a landowner's daughter.
