The Sports Pages Film Poster

Two-part anthology of sports comedies made for American television. The first film, 'How Doc Waddems Finally Broke 100', is a droll tale based on the short story by Don Marquis 'Why Doc Waddems Never Broke 100'. Bob Newhart plays Doc Waddems, an eccentric dentist who is in court explaining to a jury why he justifies killing his old friend and golfing companion Howard Greene (Kelsey Grammer) by hitting him over the head with a golf club. The second film, 'The Heidi Bowl', is based on a real incident in 1968 when, to the anger and disbelief of millions, a crucial baseball game was cut off with only a nail-biting minute to go so that NBC could begin a scheduled showing of a made-for-TV 'Heidi' film.
