1930s musical drama set during the reign of Charles I. Stanley Holloway stars as an Irish vicar who is assigned to educate the young prince. Years later, when the prince (K. Hamilton Price) has become king, the priest asks him to release one of his parisioners who has been incarcerated as a political prisoner. But will the king, who in his youth had promised to grant his beloved teacher one special favour, be able to comply with this politically sensitive request?
