Synopsis

August Diehl stars in this biographical drama co-written and directed by Raoul Peck. Set in the 1840s, the film follows 26-year-old Karl Marx (Diehl) as he meets Friedrich Engels (Stefan Konarske), a mill owner's son from a wealthy background. After initially clashing over their ideals, the pair begin to bond and travel to London where they are invited to join the growing socialist movement as part of the newly formed political party the Communist League. With their influence growing, Marx and Engels begin work on their political publication 'The Communist Manifesto'.
