Tortilla Soup Film Poster

Maria Ripoli's remake of Ang Lee's film 'Eat Drink Man Woman' has the action taking place within an Hispanic-American family living in California. Gourmet chef (Hector Elizondo) finds that his sense of taste is diminishing with age but still manages to get his three (unmarried) daughters around the dinner table regularly along with various guests. His eldest, Letitia (Elizabeth Pena) is a repressed school-teacher, his middle daughter, Carmen (Jacqueline Obradors) has just accepted the offer of a new job in Barcelona (much to the displeasure of her father), and his youngest, Maribel (Tamara Mello) has set her eyes on a handsome Brazilian student (Nikolai Kinski). Amongst the various guests are a shy single mother, her over-powering mother (Raquel Welch) and a ballplayer to whom Letitia's students have been secretly sending love letters from her.
