Comedy spoof of 1980s movies. The premise is that music video channel VH1 has stumbled upon an archived, never-released film from the 1980s which it releases today - exploiting the cultural disparity between the two eras to comic effect. The crude formulaic '80s youth film is lampooned mercilessly. Take one downtrodden school janitor, who's really a talented dancer with his own warehouse studio. Add the Midwestern family who have just moved across the country to start a new life in the big city, the need to fit in, the drama of teen relationships, a dash of science geekery, a mystical Japanese gardener, half a ton of '80's 'rad, man', slang, razor haircuts, angular, heavy-of-shoulder-pad clothing, a cupful of the inexplicable need to dance out one's angst and you can imagine the cheese-fest that results.
