Documentary about gay activist and author of 'The Celluloid Closet' Vito Russo. After touring the United States giving lectures on the portrayal of homosexual characters on the big screen, Vito also worked at colleges and universities while spreading his message of gay rights through a number of organisations including the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and ACT UP. Having died in 1990 from AIDS-related problems, Vito is still held in high regard as one of the forerunners for gay rights in the United States and across the western world. This film explores his legacy.
