Synopsis

Based on Lillian Hellman's play and adapted very successfully to the screen. Bette Davis and Paul Lukas are the Mullers who escape Nazi Germany with their children to visit Davis's mother in Washington D.C. However thir problems are far from over, as a Romanian count suspects Lukas of being a gestapo informer.
