The series continues by featuring feathered creatures such as the epidexipteryx, a predator the size of a pigeon and the most bird-like of any dinosaur, and the eight-metre-long gigantoraptor. When the focus switches to the Cretaceous period, 75 million years ago, the series features the daspletosaurus, a creature which used its highly developed smell and hearing to take down opponents like the horned rhino-sized chasmosuarus. Next up is the Jurassic period, when the first dinosaurs walked around Earth and lurked in the seas. Creatures from this period include the allosaurus, an ambush hunter with a lethal bite that could bring down the heavily armoured stegosaurus. The penultimate episode focuses on the heavyweight creatures of 95 million years ago, including the 125ft argentinosaurus and three-ton killer the mapusaurus, and the final instalment considers how dinosaurs managed to survive for millions of years until an unprecedented extraterrestrial event killed them off for ever.
