All the episodes from the first four series of the BBC drama starring Aidan Turner as Captain Ross Poldark. After spending three years fighting in the American War of Independence, Poldark must rebuild his life in the small Cornish copper mining town he calls home. However, when he finds his father dead, his estate in ruins and his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth (Heida Reed) engaged to his cousin, the life he once knew seems to no longer exist. With the help of his new maid Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson), Ross attempts to navigate the hostile, poverty-stricken locals and the region's wealthy and influential businessmen to reopen his family's disused copper mine, Wheal Leisure.
Ross makes his maiden speech in Parliament, and is reunited with an older Geoffrey Charles. While her husband is in London, Demelza has to deal with the fall-out from a failing mine and a broken-hearted Drake. Dwight and Caroline have a daughter, but their happiness is short-lived after a shocking diagnosis. Ossie is told a terrible secret by a dying parishioner, and hopes to trade the information to George, who is seeking a way to reclaim his lost political power by buying land he can corruptly control. Rebecca Front (The Thick of It) guest stars.
Ross races to the rescue alongside Sam and Dwight when blasting in the mines causes a disastrous flood, before returning to London leaving Demelza to manage things in his absence. Ossie does not realise that Rowella's husband has become suspicious of his constant visits as he makes plans to have Morwenna committed to an asylum. A tragedy strikes Dwight and Caroline, while Emma returns with an answer for Sam - but not one that he wants to hear. Drake is persuaded into courting Rosina, and George buys the borough of St Michael, allowing him to seize the opportunity to return to Westminster.
Grain prices rise, leaving the poor struggling to support their families. Ross makes a desperate gamble to help them, which draws the attention of the prime minister. However, Falmouth persuades him to compromise his principles to achieve his goals. Demelza continues her plot to bring Drake and Rosina together, but he is far more interested in a future with Morwenna. Caroline continues to repress her grief, and Arthur is driven into a murderous rage when he learns the truth about Rowella's affair.
Sam convinces Drake to return from exile following his abandonment of Rosina, and Nathaniel Pearce's death reveals how he embezzled Pascoe's clients' funds. Ross finds Geoffrey Charles led astray by Monk Adderley and steers his nephew from trouble, while Drake returns to the village with Sam, who threatens retribution on any who attack his brother. At the infirmary's opening celebration, George gloats over Pascoe's ruination and Ross calls him out.
Ross grows furious at Adderley's unwanted advances to Demelza and resorts to violence - a confrontation that results in his being formally challenged to a duel. George is delighted at the prospect of imminent fatherhood and makes plans to host a charity ball - but his and Elizabeth's newfound marital bliss is disrupted by Geoffrey Charles.
Elizabeth obtains a potion to force an early labour in the hope that George's fears that he is not the father will disappear as soon as the child is born. Ross returns to Cornwall in the aftermath of his duel, hoping to make things right with Demelza, but is forced to consider why he chose to accept Adderley's challenge. George returns home to find Morwenna has come to Trenwith in search of Drake, and banishes her from his estate - prompting Elizabeth to take desperate measures that place the life of her child at risk. Last in the series.
