In the first series of the police drama Brenda investigates the deaths of a high-profile model; a Russian call girl; three Latino gang members; and a psychiatrist involved in trials of a new drug to treat teenage depression.
The second series sees Brenda under pressure to find out who murdered a detective. She faces a surprise visit from her mother; investigates the shooting of three youngsters; and tries to keep a low profile as she reaches her 40th birthday.
The third series follows a 3am callout that sends Brenda and her team to the scene of a triple murder. Brenda then investigates a priest who works with teenagers; tangles with a bride who believes she ruined her wedding; and searches for a missing girl who vanished on her way home from school.
In the fourth series Brenda looks into the murder of a woman discovered in Griffith Park. A paroled murderer is found dead in an alley; a girl's body is retrieved in suspicious circumstances; and a man wearing a surveillance wire as part of drug ring investigation is shot dead.
The series begins with Brenda adjusting to married life and investigating the murder of a family. In later editions, Brenda looks into the apparent kidnapping of a wealthy businessman; drug trafficking at discos; the murder of a reformed gang member; and a brawl that results in the deaths of two police officers and a teenage boy.
In the first edition, Brenda investigates the murder of a man who had been taking photographs of the stars in the sky from his balcony. In later shows, the team looks into the disappearance of a nanny working for close friends of the mayor; wade into a child-custody dispute between a dying man and meth-addicted ex-wife; and track a Mexican drug cartel that seems to have moved into Los Angeles.
The final series begins with Brenda becoming the subject of a civil suit against the department. In later editions, the team look into the death of a girl who was house-sitting while the owners were away on holiday; Flynn and Provenza's plans to make easy money by serving court papers for a lawyer go awry; and Lt Tao becomes emotionally involved in a case involving a boy who apparently drowned at a summer camp.
